What is Videne 7.5% Surgical Scrub?

Videne 7.5% Surgical Scrub is a liquid antiseptic that can be used to disinfect and prevent infection of skin before surgical procedures. It can also be used for hand disinfection by surgical teams. The effective formula gradually releases iodine to kill or prevent the growth of harmful substances including bacteria, fungi, viruses, protozoa and spores. The scrub is applied topically to remove harmful substances directly from the skin so is ideal for disinfecting the site of medical procedures and cleansing hands.

Is Videne 7.5% Surgical Scrub right for me?

Do NOT use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients (see ingredients tab for full list) or:

On new born children
During pregnancy and breastfeeding
For regular or prolonged periods if you have thyroid problems or if you are taking lithium
Talk to your doctor or nurse before using Videne Surgical Scrub if:

You are using on large wounds or severe burns, as it could produce adverse effects, such as changes in your blood chemistry and problems with your kidneys
You are prone to or have ever been treated in the past for hyperthyroidism

Does this product have any side effects?
Like all medicines, Videne can cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them. Possible side effects include:

Skin reactions - these are rare and affect less than 1 in 10,000 people
May interfere with thyroid function tests if absorbed through intact or damaged skin

Can you use Videne with other medicines?
Speak to your doctor before using this product if you are taking any other medicines especially if you are using:

Wound treatments
Other skin disinfectants
Certain antiseptics
Lithium
