What is Strefen Honey & Lemon?

Strefen Honey & Lemon Lozenges are a flavoured medication that provide you with effective and soothing relief from the discomfort of sore throats.

Is Strefen Honey & Lemon right for me?

Like all products, Strefen Honey & Lemon Lozenges may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects may include:

Dizziness
Headaches
Throat irritation
Mouth ulcers or pain in the mouth
Throat pain
Warmth, burning, tingling or prickling feelings in the mouth
Prickly and itchy skin
Nausea
Diarrhoea

Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.

Warnings
These lozenges may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take these lozenges if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if:

You currently have or have had two or more episodes of a stomach ulcer, intestinal ulcers or gastrointestinal bleeding
You have or have ever had asthma
You have had gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation, severe colitis or bleeding disorders after taking NSAIDs in the past
You have severe heart failure, kidney failure or liver failure

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if:

You have had asthma or suffer from allergies
You have tonsillitis
You have a bacterial throat infection
You have heart, kidney or liver problems
You have an infection
You have had a stroke
You have a history of bowel disease
You suffer from a chronic autoimmune disease

Using/taking other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medications, including medication obtained without a prescription. You must inform them if you are taking:

Low-dose aspirin (up to 75mg daily)
Medicines for high blood pressure or heart failure e.g. antihypertensives, cardiac glycosides
Water tablets e.g. diuretics, including potassium-sparing drugs
Blood-thinning drugs e.g. anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents
Medicines for gout e.g. probenecid, sulfinpyrazone
Other NSAID medicines or corticosteroids e.g. celecoxib, ibuprofen, diclofenac sodium, prednisolone
Mifepristone (a medicine used for pregnancy termination)
Quinolone antibiotics e.g. ciprofloxacin
Cyclosporine or tacrolimus (to suppress the immune system)
Phenytoin (to treat epilepsy)
Methotrexate (to treat autoimmune diseases or cancer)
Lithium or SSRIs (for depression)
Oral antidiabetics (to treat diabetes)
Zidovudine (to treat HIV)

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
You should not use this product in the last 3 months of pregnancy. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any new product.

Age restrictions
The lozenges can be a choking hazard, therefore, they are not recommended for children under 12 years old.

Alcohol
Do not drink alcohol whilst taking these lozenges.

Driving and operating machinery
The lozenges may make you feel drowsy. If you are affected, do not drive or operate machinery until you feel safe enough to do so.
