Product Overview
What is Piriton Allergy?
Piriton Allergy is a treatment that relieves the symptoms associated with hay fever and other allergies. Piriton Allergy is a drowsy antihistamine.
Is Piriton Allergy right for me?
Like all medicines, Piriton Allergy may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include:
Drowsiness
A disturbance in concentration or problems with coordination
Nausea
Vomiting
Blurred vision
Dry mouth
Fatigue
If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
Warnings
Piriton Allergy may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take this medication if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if:
You have very high blood pressure
You have heart disease
You have epilepsy
You have glaucoma
You have an enlarged prostate
You have liver disease
You have bronchitis, asthma or any other chronic lung disorders
Using/taking other medicines
If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before taking this product.
Tell your healthcare provider if you are taking phenytoin for epilepsy, medication for anxiety or medication to help you sleep.
Do not take Piriton Allergy if you have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) in the last two weeks.
Age restrictions
Piriton Allergy is not suitable for children under 6 years old.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.
Alcohol
Do not drink alcohol whilst you are taking this medication.
Driving and operating machinery
Piriton Allergy can cause drowsiness. If you are affected, do not drive or operate machinery until you feel safe enough to do so.
Important information
Consult your doctor before use if you are taking any other medicines or if you have a health condition not mentioned in the patient information leaflet.
Always read the patient information leaflet before use.
May cause dizziness. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how your body reacts to this treatment.
Do not take more than one tablet in any 24 hours.
This medicine must not be taken by women.
