What is Phenergan Night Time 25mg Tablets?
Phenergan Night Time 25mg (Promethazine) is a treatment for insomnia. It is ideal for sleepless nights and makes falling asleep easier.
Is Phenergan Night Time 25mg Tablets right for me?
Like all medicines, Phenergan Night Time 25mg (Promethazine) may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include:
Dry mouth
Blurred vision
Difficulty urinating
Drowsiness, sleepiness and tiredness
Disorientation
Nightmares
Headaches
Dizziness, lightheadedness or feeling faint
Confusion (more common in the elderly)
Restless leg syndrome
Sensitivity to sunlight
If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
If you experience the following side effects, you must stop taking this medication immediately and seek medical treatment straight away:
Liver problems that cause the eyes or skin to go yellow
Muscle stiffness or shaking
Unusual movements of the tongue, facial spasms, rolling eyes or trembling
Heart palpitations
Weakness
More frequent infections
Prolonged tiredness
Warnings
Phenergan Night Time 25mg (Promethazine) may be unsuitable for certain people. The tablets should not be taken by people who are in a coma or are unconscious.
Do not take Phenergan Night Time 25mg (Promethazine) if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if you suffer from severe dizziness, drowsiness or headaches.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if:
You have epilepsy
You have difficulty breathing
You have asthma
You have bronchitis
You have serious heart problems
You or a family member have a history of heart disease
You have an irregular heartbeat
You have liver or kidney problems
You have hearing problems
You have narrow-angle glaucoma
You have Raye’s syndrome
Using/taking other medicines
If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before taking this product.
Do not take this medication if you have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) in the last two weeks.
You must tell your healthcare provider if you are taking the following medication:
Anticholinergic medicines (used for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), asthma or a weak bladder)
Antipsychotics e.g. haloperidol and quetiapine
Antidepressants e.g. amitriptyline and citalopram
Medicines to help you sleep e.g. diazepam and zolpidem
Aspirin
Age restrictions
This medication is not suitable for children under 16 years old.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Phenergan Night Time 25mg (Promethazine) should not be taken 2 weeks before you are due to give birth. Do not take this medicine if you are breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.
Alcohol
Do not drink alcohol whilst you are taking this medication.
Driving and operating machinery
This medication causes drowsiness. If affected, do not drive or operate machinery until you feel safe enough to do so.
Important information
Consult your doctor before use if you are taking any other medicines or if you have a health condition not mentioned in the patient information leaflet.
Always read the patient information leaflet before use.
May cause dizziness. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how your body reacts to this treatment.
Do not take more than one tablet in any 24 hours.
This medicine must not be taken by women.
