What is Otrivine Adult Nasal Drops?

Otrivine Adult Nasal Drops are an effective decongestant. They are applied to provide relief from nasal congestion, perennial and allergic rhinitis, and sinusitis.

Is Otrivine Adult Nasal Drops right for me?

Otrivine Adult Nasal Drops may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include:

Headaches
Dryness of the nasal membranes
Nasal discomfort
Nausea
Local irritation after applying the drops

If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.

Warnings
Otrivine Adult Nasal Drops may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. You should not use the drops if:

You have had recent neurosurgery
You have narrow angle glaucoma
You have chronic nasal inflammation with very dry nasal passages
You have an enlarged prostate gland
You have a rare tumour of the adrenal gland that produces high amounts of adrenaline and noradrenaline

Before using the drops you should talk to your doctor if:

You have an overactive thyroid gland
You have diabetes mellitus
You have heart or circulatory disease
You have hypertension

Using/taking other medicines
You should talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you are taking or have recently taken any medications. It is especially important if you are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors or other antidepressants.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using any new product.
