What is Optrex Bacterial Conjunctivitis Chloramphenicol 1% Ointment?

Goldeneye Eye Drops are a treatment for mild eye infections, such as conjunctivitis or blepharitis. Use these eye drops up to 4 times a day for a fast-acting treatment which will help to clear up your infection and irritation, so you can get back to normal.

Is Optrex Bacterial Conjunctivitis Chloramphenicol 1% Ointment right for me?

Do not breathe on or touch the nozzle of the tube. Avoid touching the eyes or eyelids with the nozzle of the tube. Only use this product yourself, do NOT share with other people. Do NOT use this product without consulting your doctor first. If you symptoms do not improve after 5 days, seek advice from your doctor.

When NOT to use Optrex Bacterial Conjunctivitis

Do NOT use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients (see ingredients tab for full list) or if you:

Have ever had problems with your blood during previous treatments with chloramphenicol
Have a family history of blood problems, such as low white blood cell, red blood cell or platelet count

If you have experienced any of the following, do NOT use this product and seek advice from your doctor or a pharmacist:

Your eyesight is affected
You have pain within the eye
Your eye has suffered a blow or other injury
Your eye is inflamed and you have a rash on the scalp or face
The pupil of your eye looks unusual or your eye looks cloudy
Your eye has suffered a blow or other injury
Your eye is inflamed and you have a rash on the scalp or face

Your eyes are sensitive to light
You have a foreign body in your eye, which has not been removed
You have recently had an eye infection
You suffer from or have ever suffered from glaucoma or dry eye syndrome
You wear contact lenses
You have had eye surgery or laser treatment in the last 6 months

Speak to a pharmacist BEFORE taking this product if you:

Suffer from any other eye problems
Are taking any other medicines

Always read the label before use.

Can Optrex cause side effects?

Like all medicines, Optrex Conjunctivitis can cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them. If you experience any of the following symptoms discontinue use and seek medical advice immediately:

Itching or rashes
Swelling
Breathing problems
Changes in blood leading to tiredness or easy

You may experience blurred vision or a mild burning or stinging sensation may be experienced when you first apply the ointment. This is not serious and should subside quickly.

Important information

Consult your doctor before use if you are taking any other medicines or if you have a health condition not mentioned in the patient information leaflet.

Always read the patient information leaflet before use.

May cause dizziness. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how your body reacts to this treatment.

Do not take more than one tablet in any 24 hours.

This medicine must not be taken by women.
