What is Maloff Protect Tablets?
Maloff Protect Tablets are anti-malaria tablets that can help to keep you from catching malaria if you’re travelling to an area with a high risk of disease.
If you’re travelling to a malaria zone and are worried about staying safe from mosquito bites, this product can help you stay safe from malaria for your entire stay and when you return home.
Is Maloff Protect Tablets right for me?
Like all medicines, Maloff Protect Tablets may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects of this product may include:
Headaches
Nausea and vomiting
Sleeping problems (insomnia)
Strange dreams
Loss of appetite
Fever
Rashes
Cough
Itching
Stomach pain
Diarrhoea
If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
Warnings
Maloff Protect Tablets may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take these tablets if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if:
You have or have ever had epilepsy
You have ever experienced convulsions or fits
You suffer from depression
You have tuberculosis
You weigh less than 40kg
Using/taking other medicines
If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before taking these tablets.
You must tell your healthcare provider if you are taking the following medication:
Etoposide, which is used to treat cancer
Metoclopramide, which is used to treat nausea and vomiting
Certain antibiotics e.g. tetracycline, rifampicin or rifabutin
Indinavir, efavirenz or zidovudine
Anticoagulants e.g. warfarin, dabigatran etexilate, rivaroxaban and apixaban
Age restrictions
This product is unsuitable for anyone under 18 years old.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.
Driving and operating machinery
This medication may make you feel dizzy. If affected, do not drive or operate machinery until you feel safe enough to do so.
