What is Imodium IBS Relief Soft Capsules?
Imodium IBS Relief Soft Capsules are an effective treatment against diarrhoea caused by Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), as well as short-term diarrhoea attacks. These Imodium capsules contain 2mg of the active ingredient loperamide, helping to relieve diarrhoea quickly and effectively.
Is Imodium IBS Relief Soft Capsules right for me?
Imodium IBS Relief is suitable for most adults the age of 12. Do not take these tablets if:
You have ever had an allergic reaction to any of the ingredients
If you are having a flare up of an inflammatory bowel condition, such as ulcerative colitis.
If you have severe diarrhoea after taking antibiotics.
If you are constipated, or your stomach appears swollen
If you have acute dysentery, the symptoms of which include blood in your stools and a high temperatur
If you suffer from IBS, you must speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Imodium IBS if:
You are aged over 40 and it has been some time since your last IBS attack
You are aged over 40 and your IBS symptoms have changed
You have recently passed blood from your bowels
You suffer from severe constipation
If you are feeling nauseous or vomiting
If you have lost your appetite or lost weight
If you have difficulty or pain passing urine
If you have a fever
If you have recently travelled abroad
You should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Imodium IBS Relief if you suffer from liver disease or AIDS, or if you have diarrhoea that is severe or lasts more than 48 hours. You should also speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Imodium IBS Relief if you take any of these medicines:
Ritonavir (used to treat HIV)
Quinidine (used to treat abnormal heart rhythms or malaria)
Oral desmopressin (used to treat excessive urination)
Itraconazole or ketoconazole (used to treat fungal infections)
Gemfibrozil (used to treat high cholesterol)

Are loperamide tablets suitable for children?
Children under 12 should not take loperamide tablets. Speak to a pharmacist for suitable alternatives, or browse our full range of diarrhoea relief treatments.
Should I take Imodium IBS Relief if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking Imodium IBS Relief if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are trying to become pregnant. Do not take loperamide tablets if you are breastfeeding, as small amounts of the medicine can get into your milk.
Are there any side effects?
As with all medicines, Imodium IBS Relief Soft Capsules may cause side effects in some people. Most side effects aren’t serious and you may not experience any at all.
Common side effects include:
Feeling sick
Constipation
Excessive gas
Headache
Uncommon side effects include:
Dizziness
Drowsiness
Vomiting
Indigestion
Dry Mouth
Tiredness
