What is Dulcolax Laxative Tablets?

Dulcolax Laxative Tablets are used to treat short-term constipation. They work overnight while you are asleep and become effective within 6-12 hours.

If you’re an adult suffering from constipation, this could be the perfect way to help you get regular again.

Is Dulcolax Laxative Tablets right for me?

Like all medicines, Dulcolax Adult Laxative Tablet may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects may include:

Abdominal pain or cramps
Diarrhoea
Nausea

If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.

Warnings
Dulcolax Adult Laxative Tablets may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take these tablets if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if:

You are intolerant to certain sugars
You are dehydrated
You have a blockage in the intestine (ileus)
You have appendicitis
You have severe abdominal pain with nausea and vomiting
You have a blocked bowel
You have inflammation of the bowel

Using/taking other medicines
If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before taking these tablets.

You must tell your healthcare provider if you are taking the following medication:

Water tablets e.g. bendrofluazide or furosemide
Steroids e.g. prednisolone
Other laxatives

Age restrictions
This product is unsuitable for anyone under 18 years old.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.

Driving and operating machinery
This product may make you feel dizzy in some cases. If affected, do not drive or operate machinery until you feel safe enough to do so.
