What is Dioralyte Relief Sachets?

Dioralyte Relief Sachets are a oral rehydration treatment that can help you to recover from dehydration after having diarrhoea. It helps to replace the water and salts lost from your body when you have diarrhoea as well as helping your poo to return to a normal consistency. Dioralyte Relief Sachets can be used by all the family, making this the ideal product to have in your medicine cupboard if someone catches a tummy bug.

Is Dioralyte Relief Sachets right for me?

Can I take this product if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Dioralyte Relief. This medication may not be suitable for you at this time. Also, you should speak to your doctor if you are vomiting or have diarrhoea during pregnancy, as they may wish to investigate the cause.

Can I give this product to my child?
Dioralyte Relief Sachets can be taken by children over the age of 1 to ease their dehydration when they’ve had diarrhoea. If your child is aged 3 months to 1 year old, they can still take this product but should only do so if you’ve been told to by your doctor. Make sure to follow your doctor’s instructions carefully, as they may advise a different dosage for infants.

When should this product not be used?
Dioralyte Relief is not suitable for use in children under the age of 3 months and should only be given to children aged 3 – 12 months under medical supervision. Do not take this product if you are allergic to pre-cooked rice powder, sodium citrate, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, or any of the other listed ingredients. Do not take this product if you:

Have a partially or fully blocked bowel, or intestinal obstruction
Have severe liver or kidney disease
Have an illness called phenylketonuria, which runs in families
Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product if you:

Have an electrolyte imbalance, meaning that you have unusual levels of salts in your body
Are on a low potassium or low sodium diet
Are taking any other medications, including herbal remedies
Suffer with alcoholism, as this product contains 2.5 vol % ethanol, which is the same as about 4ml of beer or 1.7ml of wine in each dose

Does this product have any side effects?
Like all medications, Dioralyte Relief can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. These include side effects caused by an allergic reaction, such as:

Rash
Difficulty breathing or swallowing
Swelling of the lips, face, tongue, or throat
If you experience any symptoms of allergic reaction, stop use and seek immediate medical assistance. If you experience any other side effects while taking this product, stop use and speak to your doctor or pharmacist. Do not take more than one tablet in any 24 hours.
