What is Chloramphenicol 1% Eye Ointment?

Chloramphenicol Eye Ointment is an eye ointment containing the antibiotic chloramphenicol which can be used by children, adults and the elderly to treat conjunctivitis which is an infection of the outer surface of the eye. Chloramphenicol Eye Ointment will reduce redness, discharge and discomfort from the affected eye.

Is Chloramphenicol 1% Eye Ointment right for me?

Chloramphenicol Eye Ointment may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this ointment if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if you are wearing any type of contact lenses.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you have any of the following:

Problems with your blood (in particular very low numbers of blood cells) after taking chloramphenicol.
If anyone in your family has had blood or bone marrow problems.
Are taking other medications.
