What is Canesten Thrush Pessary?
Canesten Thrush Pessary is a full course of treatment for vaginal thrush. It is an effective single dose pessary with applicator which goes straight to the sight of the infection and treats vaginal thrush.
Is Canesten Thrush Pessary right for me?
Like all medicines, Canesten Thrush Pessary may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include:
Itching, rashes, swelling, redness, discomfort, burning, irritation, vaginal peeling, discharge or bleeding
Pain in the abdominal area or vulvovaginal pain
Nausea
If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
Warnings
Canesten Thrush Pessary may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or during your period.
As the pessary dissolves in the vagina, it may be helpful to wear a panty liner.
Do not flush the applicator down the toilet.
Using/taking other medicines
Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines including ones obtained without a prescription.
Let your doctor know if you are taking tacrolimus or sirolimus which are used to reduce the immune response to prevent rejection after an organ transplant.
Age restrictions
This product is suitable for those aged 16 and above.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Canesten Thrush Pessary can be used in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.
To treat internal thrush, your doctor may recommend that you use the pessary without the help of an applicator.
Important information
Consult your doctor before use if you are taking any other medicines or if you have a health condition not mentioned in the patient information leaflet.
Always read the patient information leaflet before use.
May cause dizziness. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how your body reacts to this treatment.
Do not take more than one tablet in any 24 hours.
This medicine must not be taken by women.
