What is Audmonal (Alverine) 60mg Capsules?

Audmonal (Alverine) 60mg - 100 Capsules are designed to help relieve the symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

It can also be used for a condition of the large intestine called painful diverticular disease of the colon and to help relieve period pain.

Is Audmonal (Alverine) 60mg Capsules right for me?

Like all medicines, Audmonal (Alverine) 60mg - 100 Capsules may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include:

Nausea
Dizziness
Headaches

If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.

If you notice yellowing of the whites of the eyes and skin, this could be inflammation of the liver. You must stop taking the capsules and tell your GP straight away.

Warnings
Audmonal (Alverine) 60mg - 100 Capsules may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take these capsules if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if:

You have an obstruction of the gut
Your small bowel is not working properly
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if:

You are over 40 years old
You have passed blood from the bowel
You feel sick
You are vomiting
You have lost your appetite
You have lost weight
You are suffering from severe constipation
You have a fever
You have recently travelled abroad
You have abnormal vaginal bleeding or discharge
You have difficulty or pain passing urine

Using/taking other medicines
If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before taking these capsules.

Age restrictions
This medication is not suitable for children under 12 years old.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
This product should not be taken if you are pregnant. It is not recommended if you are breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.

Driving and operating machinery
This medication may cause you to feel dizzy. If you are affected, only drive or operate machinery once you feel safe enough to do so.

Important information

Consult your doctor before use if you are taking any other medicines or if you have a health condition not mentioned in the patient information leaflet.

Do not take more than one tablet in any 24 hours.

This medicine must not be taken by women.
