Diarrhoea Relief Loperamide 2mg Capsules are an effective treatment for short-term attacks of diarrhoea and diarrhoea caused by irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Is Diarrhoea Relief Loperamide 2mg Capsules right for me?

Like all medicines, Diarrhoea Relief Loperamide 2mg Capsules may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include:

Feeling sick
Constipation
Wind
Headaches
If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.

Warnings
Diarrhoea Relief Loperamide 2mg Capsules may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take these capsules if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if:

You have severe diarrhoea after taking antibiotics
You are having a flare-up of an inflammatory bowel condition such as ulcerative colitis
You are constipated or your stomach appears swollen
You have acute dysentery, the symptoms of which may include a high temperature or blood in your stools


Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if:

You have AIDS
You suffer from liver disease
You have diarrhoea that lasts longer than 48 hours
You have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars
You have severe diarrhoea

When you have diarrhoea, your body can lose more fluids and salts, so it is important to stay hydrated and drink plenty of fluids.

Using/taking other medicines
If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before taking this medication.

Do not take Diarrhoea Relief Loperamide 2mg Capsules if you are taking:

Ritonavir (used to treat HIV)
Quinidine (used to treat abnormal heart rhythms or malaria)
Oral desmopressin (used to treat excess urination)
Itraconazole or ketoconazole (used to treat fungal infections)
Gemfibrozil (used to treat high cholesterol)

Age restrictions
This medication is not suitable for anyone under 12 years old.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Do not take this medication if you are breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.
